Redmi 4: Great Mobile at Affordable Price
There is little Xiaomi announced the release of a lot of relatively high-end models like Xiaomi Mi 5S, Mi 5S plus, Mi Mix … Xiaomi in a short time managed to prove that he had nothing to envy the giants of smartphones coming out flagship killers of excellent quality.
But where Xiaomi excels in particular is to get out of the smartphones at unbeatable value for money, first with the Redmi range, then with its Redmi Note range whose 3 was voted best smartphone of the year. But what about the latest Xiaomi Redmi 4 is what we will see today!
To know that the Xiaomi Redmi 4 exists in 3 declinations:
The standard Xiaomi Redmi 4
The Xiami Redmi 4A – The budget version of the smartphone
The Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime – The muscular version of the smartphone
Here we will be able to see what the Xiaomi Redmi 4 is worth!
If we look quickly at the phone we realize that this Xiaomi Redmi 4 looks pretty much like his older Redmi 3, especially the front is very similar with a bezel quite equivalent, the differences will be behind with a back worked , more sober and curves a little cleaner. Good surprise we find a fingerprint reader on the standard version of the smartphone and a double flash.
Xiaomi Redmi 4
On the front we unfortunately find a 720P screen, it will turn to the Redmi 4 Prime to have Full HD, which should be the norm for a smartphone 5 inches. The phone is still a bit heavy with its 156 grams, but it did not bother us for the test and it gives an impression of strength to the smartphone.
On the sides it’s the same routine, we still find a micro USB port, a double sim that also serves SD player and the Jack port is still there!
the advantage of the 5-inch format compared to 5.5 inches is that the holding in the hand is really optimal and easy, the back, however, tends to slip. Probably because of the removal of the textures that we had on the Xiaomi Redmi 3. Here, we find a design more worked, less coarse and resolutely more upscale than previous versions.
As said before the screen is 720P which may be sufficient on this diagonal and saves a lot of batteries, however when we got used to full HD is always difficult to return to a range with a less good resolution. The IPS screen is very bright and should not be a problem, even in bright sunlight.
For the interface, I want to say that it’s classic Miui, here we are on the Miui 8 base version with android 6.0. I know that this rom does not please everyone, but on my side I like it, it has erased many of its mistakes of youth or we had a lot of menus or options in Chinese and is very stable and especially little High energy. Attention however, the smartphone is very recent.
For those who do not like Miui, the processor is a Snapdragon 430, it will be very simple to pass this Xiaomi Redmi 4 Cyanogen alternative ROM type quickly as soon as the community is built around the smartphone!
The Xiaomi Redmi 4 standard comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 8 cores running at 1.4GHz while the Xiaomi Redmi 4 premium, the beefier version comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 with 8 cores also clocked at 2.0GHz . Although I could not test this 2nd version. The Redmi 4 was perfectly correct for basic use, surfing, YouTube, music, chrome and messenger. It will be suitable for everyday use, but it should not push too much with greedy games that will jerk very quickly. If you still play Pokemon Go for example this one turns anyway of course this Redmi 4. Conversely we tried to play GTA San Andreas and it was unplayable with the options to a minimum. The multitasking is quite limited with its 2GB of RAM that will saturate easily. If you are a heavy user, turn instead to the premium version!
The photo has never been the highlight of the Redmi range, Xiami has always saved on this part. Here we are left with a 13MP camera in the back and another 5MP in the front.
However we feel that Xiaomi has reworked this point on its new Xiaomi Redmi 4 and a lot of errors have been erased, especially in low light or the treatment of photos has improved significantly, there is much less noise than before. However we must not expect miracles we are far from a high-end smartphone, but we notice the gap with the previous generation.
The video part is quite correct in Full HD, beware of the microphone that will tend to saturate easily during recordings (perhaps a problem of ROM?), But here too recording in low light is much more fluid.
the Redmi range since version 3 has based its reputation on the good capacity of its batteries, whether it is the Redmi 3 or Note 3, both have the ability to easily hold 2 days in battery. No revolution here, we continue on fairly similar levels when I returned home after a day of testing the smartphone quite intense, I was still at 56% for 4:30 Screen on time with a variety of uses which is very very good!
We find this smartphone for about all the good dairies, for the premium version and a little less for the version Redmi 4A!
